For prime contractors

Working with Rodgate as your subcontractor

Rodgate takes scope under your prime contract, holds the partner agreements behind it, and answers to you as one point of contact.

Why primes add us

We count toward your subcontracting goals

Rodgate is a Small Business and a Self-Certified Small Disadvantaged Business, Minority-Owned and Hispanic American Owned. On a contract carrying a FAR 52.219-9 subcontracting plan, dollars placed with Rodgate count against both the small business and the SDB goal. Nothing here is claimed beyond self-certification.

One subcontract, several trades

Rather than issuing four subcontracts and chasing four vendors, you issue one. Rodgate holds the partner agreements, verifies licensing per trade and per jurisdiction, and answers for the work as a single point of contact.

Registered and ready to be added

Active SAM registration, UEI and CAGE on file, reps and certifications current, COI available upon binding, W-9 on request. Vendor onboarding does not stall on paperwork we have not done.

The owner is the point of contact

No account layer and no handoff. The person who signs the subcontract is the person who answers the phone when a site has a problem at 6am.

Scope we take

  • Defined scope on a single site or across a portfolio
  • Recurring service under an existing prime contract
  • Call-out and dispatched repair work, single or multi-site
  • Surge and overflow when your own crews are committed
  • Self-performed communications, design, research and document work
  • Commodity and COTS supply, drop ship FOB destination

Rodgate performs work in house where we are the right hands for it, and delivers the rest through licensed, insured, vetted partners under Rodgate's contract and Rodgate's management. Either way one company is accountable to you.

Payment terms

Terms are set per subcontract. What drives them is whether Rodgate is carrying partner payroll on the work, because on partner-delivered scope we pay our partners before you pay us. These are the terms we work to.

Work Why Terms
Communications, research and document work Self-performed. No partner payroll to carry. Net 30 standard. Net 45 considered on larger awards with milestone billing.
Recurring facility and grounds service Partner-delivered. Rodgate pays its partners on their own cycle. Net 15 preferred. Net 30 workable against monthly progress billing.
Trade, repair and dispatched call-outs Partner-delivered, with materials often paid up front. Net 15.
Commodity and COTS supply Drop ship, FOB destination. Net 30 from delivery acceptance.
Pay when paidAcceptable with an outside date, so that payment is not open-ended if the government is slow.
Pay if paidNot accepted. That clause moves the risk of the government not paying you onto a small business, and it is the clause that ends small subcontractors.
Prompt Payment ActOn construction contracts, FAR 52.232-27 requires payment to the subcontractor within seven days of the prime receiving payment. We work to that standard where it applies.
RetainageUp to five percent is workable on construction-adjacent scope, released on final acceptance.
InvoicingMonthly for recurring service, on completion for project and call-out work, with backup documentation attached.
Set-off and flow-downStandard FAR flow-down clauses are expected and accepted. We read them before signing rather than after.
